In my travels, I get to meet the most interesting people. I am often invited to speak at various women’s organizations and ministry groups, and it gives me an opportunity to really connect with the readers of our magazines. I get to meet new friends and visit with dear friends from my past. It is amazing the accomplishments of women who are making a difference in the lives of others.
Dorothy Patterson is a women who really amazes me. Dorothy is a homemaker, popular speaker, and successful writer and editor. One of the most amazing undertakings that she has just completed is editing The Study Bible for Women. She is a professor of theology of women’s studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. “Women indeed are making their mark in theological circles—and not giving up their femininity and love of family and home to do so,” Dorothy says. I totally agree with her, and as I joyfully received my copy of the new study Bible, I was so happy to see such a beautiful Bible with feminine touches. The colors of the ink and paper are lovely. I just love mine.
“A team of more than 100 scholars from 17 denominations pursued two ideals with every translation decision: each word must be faithful to the original languages of the Bible, and each word must reflect clear, contemporary English.” I can’t even imagine Dorothy undertaking such a task as this and committing years of time to completing this wonderful work for women.
“I have mastered the British afternoon tea,” she told me, and we plan to get together and spend time together over tea. She and Lifeway Christian Publishing have graciously provided us with three copies of The Study Bible for Women to give away.
